LDP11 - Landscape Sensitivity and Capacity Assessment

This SPG provides guidance for onshore wind turbine development and landscape sensitivity and capacity using LANDMAP as a basis in order to inform on landscape considerations in line with policy NTE/7 and other LDP policy.

The document does not direct development to specific area but provides information on what the landscape impact could be from a particular development and considers cumulative effects with existing development.  The provision of this advice is intended to ensure that the process of negotiating, agreeing and monitoring development results in fair and transparent information to all participants of the planning system, especially at pre-application stage.

Whilst this study was produced jointly by Conwy County Borough Council and Denbighshire County Council, all references to Landscape Units and Landscape Strategy Areas relating to Denbighshire Council have been removed for the purposes of consultation.

This SPG has now been adopted as council policy with effect from November 2014. SPGs help to make sure certain policies and proposals are better understood and applied more effectively. They do not have the same status as policies in adopted development plans but we use them to help us make decisions on planning applications.
